"This paper will extend a definition of sustainability that links discussions of sustainable infrastructures to sustainable buildings and communities. The authors will introduce seven principles for discussion in relation to the design of sustainable infrastructures – from sustainable design processes, land-use, and resource use, to sustainable plug-and-play systems, materials and assemblies, as well as design for life-cycle and the design of infrastructures as neighborhood amenities. "
