Description: Spatial data are collected by many public and private organizations. Digital geospatial data come in a number of forms, including digital images, vector maps, and database files associated with a point, line or area. Table 3.1 lists some of the common formats of geospatial data that are collected and/or created by federal organizations such as the USGS 1 and the EPA Envirofacts 2 . Data sets are also available through local government agencies, such as state departments of environmental protection (DEP), county GIS databases, and county assessor�s offices, as well as private organizations and academic institutions.
