Kathleen E. Stein, Principal and Founding Partner of Howard/Stein-Hudson Associates, Inc. (Boston and New York), specializes in transportation planning, public involvement, strategic planning, management consulting and training. She has been involved in numerous transportation planning, community engagement, and facilitation projects nationally. Her professional positions prior to forming HSH, include Director and Deputy Director of Transportation for the New York City Department of City Planning. Since the early 1970s, she has been a Member of the Executive Committee of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academy of Sciences, chairing numerous subcommittees, such as the Division A Council (current), Strategic Management, Social Economic and Environmental Factors Section, and Citizen Participation Committee. Education: B.A. with distinction, English composition, Mount Holyoke College; Master of Regional Planning, Social Policy, U. of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
